SmartXX V3 Solderless Install (V1.6)

This guide shows how to install the Smartxx V3 with the Smartxx Spider 16 solderless adapter in a V1.6 xbox

It is important to note that when installing the Smartxx V3, that you must NOT remove the D0 tab.
If you have removed this by accident, then for a solderless install you will have to bridge the 'recover D0' points on the back of the chip

Remove the six screws on the bottom side of your box:

Unplug the two cables of the hard disk (yellow arrows)
Remove the three screws of your DVD-Drive (green arrows)

Remove the hard disk carefully

Remove the screw next to the LPC.
There is no need to remove the motherboard from the case.

Align the Solderless adapter in place with the screw hole.
Screw the adapter into place (careful not to over tighten as it is easy to strip the thread).
Push the pins into the correct holes.

Connect the provided DVD power cable into the motherboard and the black/red cable into J7 of the Smartxx chip.

Now connect the the short black/red cable into J8 of the smartxx mod chip, and the other end into the solderless adapter. This provides 5v power to the solderless adapter.
